Celtic lift Fenway Cup
Celtic beat Sporting Lisbon 6-5 on penalties to lift the Fenway Football Challenge Trophy in Boston.
It was 1-1 at the end of normal time, with Helder Postiga’s header cancelling out a 72nd-minute spot-kick from Georgios Samaras.
Both teams converted all five initial penalties but Paul McGowan sealed victory for Celtic after Liedson sent Sporting’s sixth kick over the bar.
With their four-match North American tour now over, the Parkhead club are gearing up for Wednesday’s Champions League qualifying match against Braga in Portugal.
